The Translational Cardiovascular Research Center at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix seeks to fill two (2) full-time, 1.0 FTE, faculty positions at the rank of Associate or Full Professor (tenure eligible). The successful candidate will dedicate 90% of his/her time towards research and research-related service in the broad area of translational cardiovascular research. Individuals will also be expected to engage in medical education research and academic service.

The successful candidate will meet the requirements of either a career track or tenure track faculty according to the College and University guidelines.

This faculty appointment will be in the Department of Internal Medicine.

Candidates must have prior experience supervising research projects, obtaining research grants, overseeing research budgets, procuring research equipment and supplies, as well as supervising research lab personnel and devising and successfully implementing research policies of the organization. Extensive experience with publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts, as well as preparing successful research grant applications is required. Finally, the candidate will be required to submit intramural and extramural research grants based on the proposed research program.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain a federally funded and internationally recognized research program in the area of cardiovascular cell and molecular biology.
  • Continue to publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Develop collaborations with pertinent faculty in the College and at partner institutions.
  • Contribute to the teaching and service missions of the College.
  • Engage in external academic and professional activities, and maintain a national reputation in the cardiovascular research field.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A terminal degree, e.g. M.D. and/or Ph.D. in an applicable field of science.
  • Previous faculty-level research experience.
  • Prior experience with grant and research manuscript writing.
  • Prior experience with obtaining research grant funds.
  • Record of peer reviewed publications and presentations at national meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated scholarly accomplishment in research.
  • Demonstrated experience as principal investigator, and evidence of currently active extramural funding.
  • Outstanding record of research accomplishments.
  • Demonstrated experience in submitting grant proposals and supervising research staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
  • Prior teaching experience with medical and/or graduate students, as well as post-doctoral fellows.
