Overview

The Business and Career Specialist role at Equus Workforce Solutions is a dynamic position that combines the essential functions of a Business Services Consultant (BSC) and a Career Planner. This hybrid role is designed to engage both employers and job seekers with the highest degree of professionalism and expertise in workforce development. The specialist will play a critical role in strengthening the capacity of Pinal County's workforce development system and connecting residents with valuable employment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Employer Engagement and Job Development:

  • Conduct searches for suitable job openings, matching client qualifications with employer requirements.
  • Develop a wide variety of job opportunities for candidates and maintain an active listing of local job openings.
  • Establish and maintain frequent contact with employers, developing detailed knowledge of the local labor market.
  • Assist employers in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring qualified applicants.
  • Work with businesses to identify job openings, alternative work activities, and training initiatives.
  • Enlist cooperation of community and business leaders to increase awareness of available workforce services.

Career Counseling and Case Management:

  • Counsel and assist clients with job search strategies, personal career advisement, and training issues.
  • Address barriers to employment, setting professional goals, and planning career paths.
  • Manage the day-to-day relationship with clients, ensuring maximum program function and opportunity utilization.
  • Maintain professional knowledge of various occupations and career paths.
  • Provide motivational support during the job search process and facilitate job readiness/search workshops.
  • Document customer success stories and maintain accurate records and correspondence.

Administrative and Operational Support:

  • Create and maintain policies and procedures for career advisement and assist in team training.
  • Produce and maintain various documents, reports, and presentations.
  • Organize job fairs, employer hiring events, and other outreach activities, occasionally working outside normal business hours.
Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational, computer, and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in team settings.
  • Knowledge of labor market trends and various job search strategies.
  • Experience in public speaking or sales, with a preference for sales or staffing experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) capabilities preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License in good standing and proof of current automobile insurance.
