Position Highlights

Arizona Space Institute at the University of Arizona is in search of Microsoft Project Scheduler (Research Program Administration Officer III). The candidate must be experienced creating and maintaining NASA flight program compliant Microsoft Project schedules. This position works closely with the University of Arizona flight project team. The flight project manager guides this position in creating a flight schedule with inputs as required from the engineering team and UA partner organizations. The position creates a baseline schedule during the NASA flight program life cycle at the direction of the UA project manager. This event typically takes place prior to project preliminary design review. The baseline schedule is statused through the project. The flight schedule will be the basis for progress reports to NASA and serve as the input for earned value reporting or other quantitative progress reporting as required by contract.

This position also supports the creation of flight schedules for spaceflight mission and instrument proposals using a similar development method.

The position supports multiple proposals and projects.

The successful candidate will be expert at Microsoft Project and highly capable with other computer-based tools.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with the flight project manager and team to create a NASA-compliant schedule in Microsoft Project. The flight schedule must reflect a breakout of tasks by NASA 7120.5F Work Breakdown Structure incorporating schedule logic through task linkages. The schedule incorporates all UA tasks including those from UA contractor partners.
  • Maintains the flight schedule through the NASA 7120.5F life cycle including a schedule baseline event at the direction of the project manager followed by schedule maintenance and tracking in support of mission planning and decision making and progress reports to NASA.
  • Supports progress reports that include Earned Value or other progress metrics as required by contract.
  • Provides similar support for flight mission and instrument proposals.
  • Maintains will be expert in the use of Microsoft Project and highly capable in the use of other computer-based tools including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint as well as being conversant or able to learn tools used by the project that provide insight into schedule tracking.
  • Interfaces with the flight engineering team to gather and status information in preparation for discussions with the UA project manager for decision making.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expert with Microsoft Project
  • Knowledge of NASA flight schedule requirements
  • Proficient in the use of computer-based tools including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience and 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience creating and maintaining NASA flight program compliant Microsoft Project schedules
  • Federal regulations require that the incumbent be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or have another protected status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) to be ITAR/EAR compliant.

  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams to successfully deliver complex flight missions
