Job Summary

This position is scheduled to begin August 2024. Instruct Computer Science courses with an emphasis on the programming, critical thinking, and problem solving skills needed to succeed in college level courses. Employ interactive and innovative instructional techniques to reach students with diverse learning styles. Instruct students from diverse cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, academic, and disability backgrounds. Interact with students outside of class in areas such as: student support hours, tutoring, mentoring, honors projects, undergraduate research, and campus life. Engage in department, campus, and district wide service and in professional development. Demonstrate a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, integrity, and diversity in the performance of job duties.

Essential Functions
  • Instructs a diverse population of students in classroom and lab settings.
  • Develops written syllabi/course outlines and course materials; assesses student knowledge of subject matter and prepares and grades exams; maintains academic support hours to assist and advise students.
  • Engages in the academic life of the college by participating in district-wide and campus committees and activities.
  • Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field and to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops.


Minimum Qualifications

1. A master's degree (or higher) in any teaching field and at least eighteen (18) semester hours of graduate credit in Computer Science

A. Teaching experience in community college level courses in Computer Science

B. dealing with Computer Science

C. Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds

D. Experience using interactive and innovative techniques to reach Computer Science students with diverse learning styles

E. Experience using instructional technology in the classroom and laboratory

F. Experience with governance, curriculum, or other committees

G. Experience with professional development directed towards the Computer Science student
