Position Highlights

The Renquist Laboratory at the University of Arizona is looking for a Research Technician II interested in conducting research aimed at understanding the metabolic and cardiovascular effects of obesity. Current research in the lab is focused on the role of the liver GABA shunt and liver GABA transporters in obesity induced hypertension, insulin resistance, and hyperinsulinemia. These studies include genetic models, drug development, and clinical translation.

Although this job posting is focused on what we know we'll be working on, we are sure that with the added knowledge the successful candidate will bring, we will branch out and expand our research horizons. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Help maintain our mouse colony
  • Perform experiments on glucose homeostasis and vascular function in mice
  • Perform surgeries on mice
  • Perform wet lab research including genotyping, ELISAs, colorimetric assays, and enzyme activity assays.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent learning attained through experience is required
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Wet lab experience, animal handling experience.
  • BS in any relevant field (i.e., any biological science or chemistry).
